Treatment for Depression and Anxiety: Is Taking Prescription Medication for Anxiety the Best Option?

By Tess Thompson Here is the good news about anxiety disorders: They are treatable. There are a variety of treatments for anxiety, including behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques and medication. But the question more and more patients are posing to their doctors is: Is prescription medication the best treatment option? Anxiety is complicated to diagnose because it is often found to be a symptom of other medical conditions or a side effect of other behaviors. For example, some people react to too much caffeine by exhibiting symptoms of anxiety disorders, including, occasionally, panic attacks. Other conditions that can be accompanied by anxiety are hypoglycemia, hyperthyroid, insomnia, premenstrual syndrome and, most often, depression. When a patient who is suffering from depression is also suffering from anxiety disorder, doctors can often see it as a good sign. In general, it means that the person has not accepted or given in to their depressed condition, and is anxious about it. To alleviate the anxiety, doctors can recommend different types of therapy, each of which can work equally well. Most doctors recommend cognitive-behavioral therapy, which helps the patient first to identify the cause of his anxiety, talks him through it, and then slowly and carefully exposes him to situations which make him feel anxious and teaches him how to cope. In addition to therapy and learned relaxation techniques, doctors will sometimes recommend prescription medication for anxiety — most often benzodiazepines like Xanax. These medications should not be taken for more than a few months at a time and should not be relied upon as a permanent treatment option. They can be highly addictive and can also produce disturbing side effects, which makes many examine them closely before agreeing to try them. In many cases, anxiety can be treated without any medication at all. In cases where medication is recommended, there are also natural treatment options for those who are reluctant to begin a regimen that includes prescription medications. If you decide to pursue this route to anxiety relief, look for remedies that include ingredients like passion flower, which is also used to alleviate hypertension, insomnia and nervous tension. Other effective ingredients are lavender, which is one of the most popular panic attack treatments, and lemon balm, a natural anxiety treatment that also serves as a general tonic for the nervous system. Whichever methods you employ, remember that there are many effective methods of treatment for anxiety and depression, and that patience and persistence will eventually lead you the healthy option that is best for you. Your Career – Have You Met A Roadblock?

By Tony Jacowski Most of the time it is employees who feel stuck and cornered and their career not advancing as they would like it to. After putting in all the hard work and gaining experience and they thought everything was just right for their career to advance. Then they realize that something is amiss and they are stuck when the rest of the world is merrily marching ahead. But hold on a minute; before putting the blame on someone else, have you thought about what could have happened? Here are a few indicators that tell you if you have met a roadblock in your career path: 1. You are sailing along, making your superiors look good and making money for the company. And just when you thought you were about to get that promotion, you find someone new arising on the horizon and you suspect he is brought to stop you from getting the new position, or at worst, dislodge you from your job. 2. You are doing just fine and the company (your employer) has even promised you a bonus the next fiscal quarter. You discover, one fine day, that your company is finding it difficult to live up to their promises in the face of new competition and is, in fact, planning huge layoffs. 3. You realize, after putting in years of sweat and hard work, that your employer (a small cap company) is being more than conservative in this competitive world with no plans for expansion or technical upgrades to face challenges. The gains you made are withering away. If you stay in this place any longer, you face the danger of losing out completely. 4. You think, quite often, that there is too much work and you are unable to handle it as well as you would have liked. You want to demand/request more resources or manpower irrespective of whether the increased workload is illusionary or real. You think that adding a few more hands will ease the pressure but management is skeptical and denies your request. 5. You took a job with a small company, as you were in urgent need of earning an income. You had hoped to seek a better one as thing progressed. Now you find it hard to convince large companies of your abilities, as they look down upon you as a guy from a small company used to an alien work culture. 6. A sizeable number (59%) of employees dont think depression and illness is a roadblock to their career advancement. The situation is worse with female employees thinking (of course, not without truth) that sexism/harassment, pregnancy and childcare are their roadblocks (source: depression center, University of Michigan). There are many people who think, at times, that they are stuck at a roadblock concerning their career ambitions. Sports figures (remember Jennifer Capriati); politicians and business people, all find themselves in this similar, Catch-22, situation. They are often at a loss for ideas as to how to move forward. Knowing the early signs of career stagnation will put you on the track to career recovery. Tony Jacowski is a quality analyst for The MBA Journal. Special Needs In Behaviour In Nursery Provisions

By Mark Hayward From time to time at this very early age in life we come across behaviour problems which are difficult to handle. When this type of situation occurs you need to have a plan of action to deal with it. For the first step in this situation everyone needs to recognise and describe the child`s behaviour and what sort of things they do. Once this has been recognised observations need to be carried out to look more closely at the situation to understand when they are showing these behaviours. The code we give to this behaviour is:- A- Antecedent B- What triggers the behaviour C- Consequence`s Help needs putting into place for this behaviour and ideas need to be developed. Staff within the provisions need to change the A the B or the C to achieve a different pattern to suit the child with boundaries. Usually this means that the child`s general development is at a stage much younger than actual age. If activities are made simpler the concentration and skills do gradually build up. In all this rules and regulations are adhered to Such as NO BITING, NO KICKING And these are given clearly, patiently and repetitively. The child involved begins to play more and other children join in the group so that they learn to play alongside others. Staff then need to plan how to handle these incidents of disruptive behaviour. The best way of dealing with the situation is to give very clear “NO” and taken away from the situation and show them something positive instead. SUMMARY Staff concentrate on a couple of the behaviours that cause the most concern. Simple clear rules are set to change the behaviour they want to change and handle it consistently when it does happen. Activities are made more fun so the concentration play and behaviour is better. Help is given to the child to avoid the situation where the problem behaviour occurs. Overall continued observations are kept so as evaluations are made to check on progress and see if plans are working. Tips for Getting a Personal Loan Fast and Hassle-Free

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mary_Wise]Mary Wise Finding the best deal Your aim will of course be to find the lender offering the lowest interest rate and the most flexible repayment schedule so youll get the lowest monthly payments possible. There are Secured and unsecured personal loans. If you choose to go for a secured loan youll probably get lower interest rates, larger loan amounts and longer repayment programs. But remember, if you dont need that much money dont take all the money the lenders are offering. You can always borrow money later; you should keep your debt to a minimum. Take advantage of online services Once youve decided how much money you need, its time to start your research. Looking for potential lenders hasnt have to be such a nuisance. There are many online sites that offer access to a wide list of lenders that will present you with loan offers and youll be able to choose which one best suits your needs after comparing them from the comfort of your home. Pay special attention to interest rate (APR), repayment schedules, loan amounts, and also whether there are extra fees or not that may turn an otherwise good looking deal into a big burden. Another Benefit A Personal loan can serve any personal purpose; you can use it to pay for medical bills, going on vacations, making home improvements, and more. But there is another benefit that comes when you secure a personal loan and regularly pay the monthly installments. This benefit, as important as it is, is usually disregarded. Paying back a personal loan will increase your credit score and improve your credit history, thus, the next time you request a loan youll end up paying a lower interest rate and youll be able to request a higher loan amount. Mary Ann Wise, a professional consultant with more than twenty years in the financial field, is currently committed to helping people in the process of securing personal loans, mortgage, refinance or consolidation loans and preventing consumers from falling into the hands of fraudulent lenders. Impact Of Mobile Phones In Daily Life

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Indu_Nair]Indu Nair Mobile phone is a long-range, portable electronic device used for mobile communication. Mobile phones are now inexpensive, easy to use, comfortable and equipped with almost every latest feature we desire. Mobile phones are also known as lifesavers as they can help people in emergencies. If you get stuck in the middle of the road and find no one for help, you can just use a mobile phone and call for help. Mobile phones are comfortable way of communication over a long distance. Along with the obvious convenience and quick access to help in emergencies big and small, mobile phones can be both economical and essential for travelers trying to stay connected. In Japan, mobile phone companies provide immediate notification of earthquakes and other natural disasters to their customers free of charge. In the event of an emergency, disaster response crews can locate trapped or injured people using the signals from their mobile phones or the small detonator of flare in the battery of every cell phone; an interactive menu accessible through the phone’s Internet browser notifies the company if the user is safe or in distress. We have also been downloading Java games and video clips to our mobile phones. Several online mobile phone shops have come up to cater to this increasing demand for the best mobile phone handsets and the most reliable and cost-effective services in the use of the same. Along with all these advantages there are many disadvantages for mobile phone usage. Mobile-phone use while driving is common. It is generally agreed that using a hand-held mobile phone while driving is a distraction that brings risk of road traffic accidents. So we need to use hands free sets to avoid such hazards. The potential impact of the kind of electromagnetic fields generated by cellular phones on the human brain has received little attention until relatively recently, and its probably still much too soon to pronounce on the possible adverse effects of long-term exposure. Accumulating evidence indicate that microwave radiation from mobile phones may cause serious diseases and disturbances in the physiology. This includes an increased cancer risk and genetic damage, disturbed brain function and other effects. Mobile phone radiation and health concerns have been raised, especially following the enormous increase in the use of wireless mobile telephony throughout the world. So prolonged use of mobile phone should be avoided. The head set should be kept at reasonable distance from our head. We provide all type of latest trend mobile phones in a very discount rate. Weight Loss Clarity Still Confusing

By Kenneth Dockins Countless individuals still suffer from lack of knowledgeable solutions, despite the availability of profound, prolific, professional and often proven facts to be found in this world to clearly help you lose weight. Yet, it is no small wonder why this saga continues. Three Challenging Reasons There are three main reasons why burning fat and getting rid of excess or unwanted pounds remains such a large challenge. Would you like to know what they are? 1. Lack of a you-centered approach in business. 2. Basic misunderstanding or misconception of human anatomy and its TRUE operational ability and function. 3. Motivation – that is, having individual possession of an absolutely compelling reason to get your weight loss job done, and in the right way, too. One: You – Centered Approach Let’s look at number one: Lack of a you-centered approach in business. Lack of a you-centered approach in business simply means this… within numerous industries (an, diet-exercise-fitness-health-nutrition-weight management is not uch of an exception to the rule), sales primary production focus lies in features. These features are: what the weight loss product or service can do; how it is structured, or why it is supposed to be so great. Quite often business, industry, and media seem to forget that people or real customers pay the salaries and make the businesses run. With that in mind, YOU and YOUR ideas, your comments, needs, feelings, circumstances and suggestions need to become first in the forecast of business and corporate venture. Until this happens, YOU must seek your weight loss outcome with even more persistence, determination, and care. Two: Formal Anatomy Misconceptions Now, let’s look at Number Two: Basic Misunderstanding or Misconception of Human Anatomy, Its True Operational Ability and Function. In today’s society, the hard cold fact is this… unless you’ve dedicated your life to, and /or spent/invested thousands of dollars into an accredited nationally or internationally recognized and formal program of biomechanics, anatomy, reflexology, physiology, athletic training, or exercise science and dietetics… you are bound to lack the most firm grasp on the inner workings of the human body. In other words, the only way to master a thing is to practice it. Yet, how can you rehearse your routine with correct and clear understanding when you have not broken it down, piece by piece, reassembled it again, and documented your findings and outcomes over and again, plus noted differentiations, subtleties, and idiosyncrasies? Without such knowledge (either your very own, or the assistance, guidance and availability of a caring and reliable resource person or organization), you may be stuck with antiquated ideas like: 1) weight lifting makes me too bulky, so I won’t add the resistance training component to my weight loss workouts; 2) I’m doing my abdominal crunches every day, so why am I still so fat or overweight around the middle?… and 3) I already cut back on my food intake, so why aren’t I losing weight? In a nutshell, gaining genuine comprehension of human anatomy and its true operational ability and function provides answers to all of the above questions, very accurately, AND this solution empowers your command to DEMAND timely and guaranteed weight loss results for your own life. Three: Compelling Motivation Consequence Finally, let’s consider Number Three: Motivation – That Is, Having Individual Possession of An Absolutely Compelling Reason To Get It Done, and In The Right Way, Too. Your motivational trigger can be a pleasant one, or a painful one. Yet, you can turn even a painful experience into a positive weight management cause. For the word “motivation,” allow me to offer you the “renewed” and much more highly useful definition… Motivation centers around being absolutely convinced regarding the consequences of your adequacy or inadequacy at improving your performance. Put simply, you’ve got to find the strongest reasons that make you stick to at least the minimum daily requirements for weight loss progress. Without necessary motivation, your effort succumbs to the “half-baked” style for getting things done. More often than not, individuals remain just a few mere points away from reaching their threshold breaking potential on a consistent basis. And, motivation (that is, the kind we just talked about) in such cases gives you the added intellectual “spark” that ignites the flame for more intense activity almost “exactly” when you need it. Such an advantage can literally make the difference between, let’s say, pumping out a 50-minute aerobic sessions at 125 heart beats per minute, or only performing a 25-minute session at only a mere 115 heart beats per minute. That’s a gain or loss of about 325 extra calories in your per-day workout. When adopting the first example above, your “motivated” session style gets you the added advantage of losing about 300 “extra” calories per day. That gives you a total of approximately 500 calories lost on each workout day. This eventually translates to 22 pounds of extra body fat lost per year! Thorough aerobic targeted training workouts can offer you up to 10 or more calories per minute of fat burning potential. Yet, the average person usually only reaches 5 or 6 calories per minute during a normal workout. Therefore, implement motivation to take you farther. Use your intentionally focused and direct weight loss clarity to achieve markedly improved fat-burning results. In Summary Are you clear now? There’s a lot of information out there. But the hidden secret is to become aware of those “other” factors (like the ones we’ve mentioned here) that contribute equally, if not more, to the way you approach losing weight through healthy lifestyle changes. You can see that clarity is about knowledge… wisdom is a process involving awareness, accountability, and action. Make every reasonable attempt to see your way CLEARLY through to weight loss success. Wedding Themes and Favor Ideas: Simple Ways to Decorate Your Wedding

By Tracy Yang Attention to details is the key to making your theme wedding unique and memorable. Below are some simple decorating ideas for popular wedding themes to help make your day truly magical. Beach Theme A romantic stroll down a white sandy beach with the cool breeze brushing against your face and the orange glow of the sunset behind your back is what we envision for those that are having a beach themed wedding. It is not complete without the necessities that make it a beach wedding. Start off with a message in a bottle invitation to casually invite your guest to a beautiful outdoors event. The highlight of the wedding are the guests arriving to see aisles of chairs decorated with garlands of fresh flowers in season and the waves crashing in front of them.Definitely a lei is a must for the couple to be as they stand and exchange their vows. Guests can enjoy the outdoors sea mist as they sit lightly fanning themselves with a sandalwood fan. To end a beautiful occasion, guests can go home with a memory of all this, with wedding favors such as tin pails filled with seashell potpourri or an elegant silver sea shell favor. It is a day that the bride and groom eagerly await for and happily will remember and cherish. Garden Theme A traditional quaint garden wedding brings tradition to modern times. If you are having a garden themed wedding, it doesnt necessary mean it needs to be outdoors. A modern edition of a traditional garden wedding can be substituted with great accessories. Create a floral ambience with fresh flowers in bloom all around the ceremony or reception location. Having plenty of flowers is a must to recreate a garden theme wedding if you want to play to your guests senses. Add some twinkling lights across the ceiling for a romantic ambience. Small furry critters are a great accessory to table settings such as butterflies, lady bugs, or bees. Line the walk ways with candles such as luminary tea light bags or have real trees or plants and hang some candles on the branches with hanging votive holders. Guests will happily end the occasion by bringing home some great wedding favors such as a mini pear candle that reads The Perfect Pair or a mini handbag filled with pear scented potpourri. Wine Theme Weddings Great food, friends, and wine are the ingredients to a great wine theme wedding. If having your wedding at the wine country is not within your budget, a recreation of the exquisite ambience can be done wherever you may be having your wedding. Grapes and more grapes are always a must to create a wine theme atmosphere. Have accessories on the table such as grape vineyard place card holders to seat your guest accordingly for that added special touch. Play off the theme with vibrant colors of deep maroon and gold or light ivory and gold depending on which wines you love, the reds or the whites. Make sure to fully stock your bar with plenty of wines from various parts of the country. Have guests nibble on appetizers to compliment the various wines. Lastly, have special toasting glasses or wine stoppers engraved with your guest’s name so they can always remember your special day. Copyright Tracy Yang, 2005. All rights reserved. Marketing In The Moment (Consciously)

By Barry Volk It’s really all we have really… the “Moment”. Think about it, the past is only a memory and the future is speculation manufactured by the mind. This present moment is where it all happens. If we master the “Moment” everything else falls into place naturally. There are 4 keys to mastering the “Moment” that insure marketing and sales success. 1)Passion- Passion for your product or service, passion for your company and/or passion for what you are doing. It can be any of these. Be careful on this one, because you can’t fake passion. Passion is more than intensity and enthusiasm, passion is a love for something. 2)Honesty- Honesty is not a lost art. Honesty is in our true nature and honesty in the “Moment” is a breath of fresh air. It brings down barriers and builds long term relationships. It’s a spontaneous commitment to truth in all situations that come at you. 3)Vigilance- Vigilance in the “Moment” is the silent witness. Vigilance allows passion and honesty to flourish while keeping thoughts of past & future in perspective as points of reference only. Vigilance keeps you present. 4)Presence- Presence is total openness to all and anything that comes at you in the “Moment”. Presence absorbs the problems that come up, the good, the bad, the happy and the sad, the challenges, the disappointments. Presence armed with Vigilance, Honesty and Passion allows clarity in thought and clarity in decision making. Marketing In The Moment (Consciously) simply means being present. And the “present” is the gift.
